If your work is in Nasinu, Nausori or at Nausori Airport, staying in Nakasi puts you between them and keeps you clear of the worst of the Suva commute. A whole apartment gives a work crew or project team their own rooms, space to spread out, a kitchen and parking for work vehicles.
This guide covers the main workplaces along the Suva–Nausori corridor, how to plan around traffic, and what makes a good base for a work trip.
Who works along the Suva–Nausori corridor
Nasinu: home to FNU's main campus and the head offices of the Land Transport Authority, the Water Authority of Fiji and the Housing Authority (Wikipedia).
Nakasi: a commercial strip along Kings Road and an industrial area on Vishnu Deo Road (Wikipedia).
Koronivia: the Ministry of Agriculture's Koronivia Research Station near Nausori, where new crop varieties are developed (Fijivillage).
Nausori: the town centre and Nausori International Airport, the hub for Fiji Link and Northern Air domestic flights. See flying from Nausori.
Suva: government ministries, Parliament, regional organisations and the port, about 15 km from Nakasi.
Plan around the traffic
The Fiji Roads Authority has said the Suva–Nausori corridor "continues to suffer from severe congestion during peak hours" (Fijivillage). For a work trip that means:
Stay on the side of the corridor where most of your meetings or site visits are.
Schedule Suva meetings mid-morning, after the inbound peak.
Head back from Suva before about 5 pm, or wait until after the evening rush.
For early flights to the islands, stay on the Nausori side. See where to stay near Nausori Airport.
